Who is Search Engine's Customer?

Finding keywords in the text of an article is easy for search engines. But using their computers, larger search engines are also reading the article itself. They use algorithms to see if, to the search engine's user, the webpage is going to be helpful.

Remember, to the search engine, all the search engine's users are the search engine's customers. The search engines want their customers to have the best choices.

Reader's Point of View

Using keywords, after the reader finds an article, if the article isn't helpful, the reader will probably bounce out and go elsewhere.

Then again, if the article is helpful, there's a greater chance the reader will stay on the website, or even at a later time return for more.

Keywords are the Article's Guide

Throughout the article, the keywords are the word guide; the keywords are what the article is about. If the article is about "The Making of Flavored Potato Chips", the article will have a high number of the guide words like "making", "flavored", and "potato chips". These guide words are what the search engine is going to pick out as keywords to the article.

To the reader, it's not that the article has a high number of words like "flavored" or "potato chips", it's that they learn about the making of flavored potato chips. The reader is using these keywords words as a guide throughout the article.

How many times should these keywords appear in the article? So long as the reader can learn about "The Making of Flavored Potato Chips", the reader doesn't care.

Content That Makes Sense

It's not about the quantity of content; it's all about the quality of the content.

Even with the right number of keywords in an article, in order to be helpful, the article has to convey information and ideas to the reader. The writer either has to be in the business of making the flavored chips, or the writer has to thoroughly learn about the making of flavored chips in order to write a useful article.

The Search Engines Work for the Readers

Search engines are figuring it out. It's not that the article is being written to match the desired keywords; it's that the article is written to help the reader.

When the article is written to be helpful to the reader, the search engines will know it. The search engines will use guidewords throughout the article as keywords for their users.
